Work in progress - editing

This screen shot shows progress with the music video, In the image we are experimenting with the gobo effect on the video to see how it looks. So far I am not happy with the way it looks so it will be taken out. I am also adding in the new footage that we took in the green room and the theatre. I am also going to improve the lip syncing and make the spaces for the footage that will be filmed on Saturday.

Concept ideas / music videop work in progress

These are some ideas from pintrest that I though we could try and incorporate into the music video, with one of the repeated lines in the song "silver lining's turned a darker grey" I think we need to build on this concept through the video in creative ways. We could use some of the ideas as backgrounds or use them as the main focus in the music video.

Magazine advert draft

This is another draft of our magazine advert we made the lines smaller and added darker tones to ensure the gobo effect and the white shirt stood out. We also changed the fonts so that they were easier to read. I think this magazine advert fits with the codes and conventions of the magazine adverts better as it includes all of the important information that you typically see on a magazine advert.

Magazine Ad draft

Digipack backcover

This is the first draft of the back cover of the digipac, we wanted to keep the fine lines concept as the main theme throughout the album, relating it to the title of fine lines. The soft lines in the image help to convey this. On the back cover we have the typical information expected of a magazine advert, helping us to stick to the codes and conventions of a typical digipac.

Work in progress - magazine advert

This is the progress of the magazine advert, we first started off working out how to add the gobo effect through editing as our original idea with the gobo was to be for the effect to be done through a stencil when taking the picture, this idea did not work so the decision was made to add the effect in the editing stage, this picture shows the first stages of the editing process for this effect. We wanted the theme of the digi pac to be continued in the magazine advert so we decided to stick with the same grey scale/ black and white. We also made sure we were including the codes and conventions that relates to a magazine advert this includes the reviews, record label, the artists name and the album title.

The second image shows an almost finished idea, we decided that the lines of the gobo were too big so we down sized them in order for them to fit with the title of fine lines, we also changed the contrast and the different adjusted the different colour tones in order to get the look and the tonnes of black and white that we thought best worked. We removed the black box as we didn't feel that it was appropriate for the magazine advert and plates around with the layout of the text. We made her signature of her name bigger so it was more dominant in the advert and made the magazine reviews come from different sources so that they were more appropriate for the genre and to make them fit with the codes and conventions of out magazine advert.

Work in progress - Digipack

This is the back of our digipack so far. I think that the song names reflect the genre and i also think they link with our concept of change and moving on. I also think that the background reflects the title of the album fine lines with the different uses of lines. To make sure that the colours fit with the colour scheme of blackened white the background will be edited to black and white with the pink possibly being colour isolated to show the breakthrough in realising change is good and for the better. The pink will represent the change.

Digipack Title Ideas

These are some of the title ideas that we came up with as a group, we are going to ask some of members of the target audience what they think the title of the album should be and make a final decision regarding the feedback.

Brand identity - Digipack

These questions will help us to gain an understanding of how we want our digipack to be perceived, it will allow us to create a strong brand identity that is represented through all of our ancillary products.

Name of the artist?

The name of the artist will be her real name, Holly Bennett. We think this will help people see that she is real and the things portrayed in the music video and through the album is all real and all her.

Colour decision?

The colour combinations will be silver, grey and a light pink. This is to make reference to both the song lyrics and the name of the album. The colour pink adds a brighter colour and a element of femininity.

An idea on the overall concept - What is the album about? How will we show this?

The album will be about the ability to change and having the ability to move on. The colours we have chosen should help to get this across with the grey turning silver be a reference to this. We also want to include a soft pink to emphasise the femininity of the actress.

How does this link to the audience?
This links to the audience as it allows them to move on and the album will allow the audience to reflect on how they could change like the girl has, the names of the songs in the album will take the audience on a journey and help them to relate to the songs and the album as a whole.

Audience feedback on album names

This is a short clip with our target audience feedback about the name choices for the digipac and the magazine advert, from the feedback we will decide on the name we think best fits the genre of music and the style of the artist, while taking into consideration audience feedback.

Final idea for the Digipack

This is our final idea for the CD digipack. We have chosen the name fine lines as we feel that this best represents the line between the past and the present and also the line between choosing to move on and be happy and choosing to do nothing to change yourself. We want our album cover to link with the change and the moving on through the intertextualisty and the continued binary opposite theme that is shown in the music video.
